The former Butambala district official who was recently arrested for graft had pleaded guilty.

Idris Walugembe, the Town Clerk Gombe Town Council, Butambala District, was yesterday arraigned at Butambala Chief Magistrates Court on charges of Forgery.

The accused pleaded guilty to the charges, and was remanded until 06/08/2025 for sentencing.

Walugembe, while acting as Secretary District Service Commission Butambala, in 2022, along with others still at large, altered official job application records of the service commission and smuggled in an applicant for the position of Inspector of Schools, a one Abbas Musoke, who was not eligible for shortlisting.

Walugembe was subsequently suspended from his duties as Secretary, District Service Commission for sabotaging the activities of the previous District Service Commission including leaking official Minutes of the DSC on social media.
