He said they have tpetitioned the Inspectorate of Government (IGG) to halt businessman Hamis Kiggundu’s construction works on Nakivubo Channel until all legal procedures have been followed.
Lukwago was speaking, Monday during a press conference following
KCCAs giving the channel to Hamis.

“The Constitution that establishes the office of IG and the Act gives it overarching powers to make some quick interventions. So, we have asked the IG to evoke those particular provisions and issue an order for the removal of those mabati (iron sheets),” Lukwago explained.

Lukwago and team.also sought the support of parliament by writing to the LOP, Hon Joel Ssenyonyi to rally the House against any development on Nakivubo channel which does not follow proper channels.

“This is a national matter since we are talking about the capital city and public property which we are mandated to guard. There is no free land in Kampala,” Lukwago said.

Ham said he was. Planning to construct modern shops along the channel which he said is a den for thieves.
