Leaders of a SACCO in Busoga sub region who used their office to exploit beneficiaries will take time in prison as Investigations continue.
The leaders who were recently arrested by SHACU working hand in hand with other anti graft agencies were Friday arraigned in court and faced their charges.
Those charged included Mr Buwote Stephen, the Chairperson, Busalamu South Ward SACCO, Nangobi Safina – Secretary, Busalamu South Ward SACCO and Nankangu Ziyada – Treasurer, Busalamu South Ward SACCO
The three were arraigned before the Iganga Chief Magistrate’s Court on charges of extorting money from PDM beneficiaries.
The accused are alleged to have fraudulently obtained money from beneficiaries between May and July 2025 at Busalamu Town Council in Luuka District, falsely claiming that payment was a requirement to access PDM funds, which was not true.
They all denied the charges and were remanded until 16th September 2025.
