The government has already started planning for the next leaders after this election season

While much still remain in store for President and
Mps, the first beneficiaries will be district Chairpersons as well as cities and municipality mayors.

The government has spent about 35
2 billions ($9.3 million) to procure brand new Toyota double-cabin pick-up trucks for them.

Local government minister Raphael Magyezi told parliament that the first batch of 90 vehicles would arrive in the country by the end of September, with the remainder due in November.

He said the money was approved in a supplementary budget passed in April.

The disclosure came as Magyezi responded to a petition by the Uganda Local Government Associations (ULGA), which last week raised concerns over persistent logistical and funding gaps that hinder service delivery at the local level.
