A section of the general public has blamed the management of Case hospital for sacking Dr Deo Lukyamuzi Kizito who showed interest in contesting president Yoweri Museveni in the incoming polls.
Dr Musoke last week picked presidential nomination forms and returned them with all the corresponding requirements.
A surgeon for years with Case hospital, yesterday the medical Services terminated his employment at the facility,.
In a letter signed by Chief Operating Officer Ronald Akankwasa, the hospital said it was necessary to disengage Dr Kizito in order to preserve neutrality.
“Following a meeting you had with our CEO regarding your decision to contest for the position of President, it is essential for Case Hospital to uphold its commitment to professionalism and maintain strict neutrality, avoiding any association with political affiliations or activities,” the letter reads.
But his sacking has not gone down well with some people including those he served at the facility.
They accused the facility of not being independent of government saying the law doesn’t stop a private entity to maintain a political aspirant as it is with civil servants.
” The hospital may have wanted to make news or they want to.impress government since it’s part of their market. They should have stopped at granting him.leave to allow him.try his shot at the presidency” said Mr Joseph Kimuli a Kampala business man.
He joined many more people who never supported the trend the facility took on the doctor.
But the hospital management insisted thru wanted to.be apolitical and simply expressed their sincere gratitude to the many years of dedicated service he has had with them and fired him.
According to Media,
Dr Kizito is no stranger to political ambition. In 2011, he contested for the Masaka mayoral seat and also stood for Parliament in the same year, losing to the late Mathias Kasamba.
A decade later, in 2021, he picked presidential nomination forms but did not contest.
His latest bid now sets him on course for the 2026 race, where he has pledged to tackle corruption within six months of assuming office, channeling recovered funds to health and social services, while also pushing for constitutional amendments to limit presidential powers.
