KAMPALA
After losing four rounds of parliamentary polls in Kampala and Masaka, DP’s Fred Mukasa Mbidde has decided to relocate to Buwekula County where he has announced to give it another shot.
Mbidde who owns a home in Bugoondo village, Butoologo Sub parish in Mubende district said he was contesting in order to fight land grabbing and unlawful evictions which are rampant in the area.
He announced this during a family thanks giving ceremony for his public life on the 12th of September 2025 at his newly owned home.
Until recently, Hon Mbidde a deputy president in DP was known to live in Makindye, Kizungu , Kampala and Masaka.
During his announcement, the former member of Parliament for EALA said he was drown back into competitive politics after voters on this area requested him to help them on land grabbing and evictions.
He said he had personally taken a break since 2021 but fresh requests from the people of Buwekula forced him back.
Mbidde has had four failed attempts at becoming a member of Uganda Parliament.
In 2006 he lost his bid in Makindye West. In 2007 he lost a by election in Kalungu East constituency and also lost it again 2011 respectively. In 2021 Mbidde tried his luck in Nyendo _Mukungwe constituency but lost to NUP’s Mathias Mpuga.
In Buwekula County where he is planning to contest , Mbidde is facing off four other candidates namely NUP’s Stephen Ndagizimana and Peter Kayira who are awaiting party card as well as NRM ‘s flag bearer, Joseph Kakooza and Edward Kulabirawo a leaning NRM independent.
In Uganda electral laws allows any registered voter to contest from anywhere as long as he or she so desires.
