A city dweller who picked courage and impersonated as a State House employ has finally been brought to book.
Mawejje John who was arrested by the SHACU in collaboration with Uganda police and office ot the DPP was charged with impersonation.
He however denied the charges and was remanded until 19/11/2025.
Court heard that on July 11, 2025, at Embassy House in Kampala District, the accused, Mawejje allegedly claimed to be an employee of the State House with the intent to defraud or deceive Namakula Rose Mary. This claim was false.
Investigations revealed that Mawejje had summoned Namakula to appear before him at the President’s office within State House in Kampala for an “investigation meeting” concerning a land transaction he claimed to be examining. She was instructed to bring signed transfer forms for Weraga Robert, to whom she had sold her house in 2004, located at Maganjo Zone, Nabweru Town Council, Wakiso District.
Mawejje was subsequently arrested, and documents related to the land transaction were recovered from him before he was formally charged.
