Court in Kampala has sentenced Edison Ssemugenyi, a 20 year old Senior Six student to a six months imprisonment over spreading false information about President Yoweri Museveni and first son, Chief of Defence Forces Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba.
Prosecution told court that, Ssemugenyi, through TikTok spread false information that President Museveni was bedridden.
Prosecution further noted that Ssemugenyi made hate speech about Chief of Defence Forces Muhoozi Kainerugaba, alleging he is homosexual.
Ssemugenyi, who was arrested last month after sitting for only two of his UACE exams, was sentenced to Luzira Prison on Tuesday after pleading guilty to the two charges before the court.
Ssemugenyi however denied a separate charge of sharing content on his TikTok account alleging that President Museveni is a thief.
