The Kampala Metropolitan Police Deputy Public Relations Officer, ASP Luke Owoyesigyire has revealed that the Kira Road Division is investigating the death of Dr. Tom Patrick Mugizi, a 64-year-old lecturer at Victoria University and Makerere University Business School (MUBS).
According to Luke, this is after Dr. Mugizi, a resident of Kisota Zone, Kikaaya Parish in Nakawa Division, was found dead in his house after relatives failed to reach him by phone for several days.
Owoyesigyire said the incident was reported on January 3rd, 2026 by the deceased’s sister, Annet Nsasiirwe Annet Runtemu, after repeated attempts to contact him from December 31st, 2025 were unsuccessful.
Owoyesigyire noted that a neighbour was asked to check on him and found Dr. Mugizi lying dead in his bed in a decomposing state.
Police noted that the house was open but no property was missing.
“Officers visited and documented the scene, recorded statements from relevant witnesses, and conveyed the body to Mulago City Mortuary for a post-mortem examination” he said.
Owoyesigyire said preliminary observations indicate that the deceased had a history of chronic illness, although the exact cause of death will only be confirmed after the post-mortem.
