The Anti graft agencies have arrested and charged police officers who conspired and let a prisomer escape for a financial gain.
The arresting force was headed by SHACU working together with Uganda police and the DPPs office.
Those charged were attached to Busia boarder.
They were presented before the Anti Corruption Court on charges of Abuse of office, Aiding a prisoner to escape and Conspiracy to defeat justice.
They included: AIP Kali Godfrey, No.48527, CPL Owiny Peter . No. 47882 and CPL Odul Oscar.
It was alleged that between 22 and 23rd December 2025, being employed as police officers attached to Interpol and terrorism tactical at Busia customs office abused their authority and did an abitrary act when they aided the escape of Kasule Najib , a suspect who had been intercepted at the Uganda- Kenya border .
Kasule Najib is a key suspect in a gold scam being investigated by SH-ACU where an American National was defrauded over USD 840,000.
They have been remanded until 21st January 2025.
