FOUR KOTIDO MUNICIPAL OFFICIALS ARRESTED OVER UGX 1BN FRAUD

THE graft agencies headed by the no nonsense SHACU working together with Uganda police and the DPPs office arrested four officials of Kotido Municipal Council on various charges related to the alleged misappropriation of UGX 1 billion .

The said money was meant for the rehabilitation and maintenance of roads within Kotido Municipality.

The accused include Mr Okaja Emmanuel the Town Clerk,Okidi Gasper the Senior Civil Engineer,
Akello Deo Nyanga the Senior Internal Auditor and
Lokure John Bosco the Assistant Inventory Officer

Preliminary investigations reveal that these officials conspired and emblezzled over UGX200Million meant for construction materials for various roads in Kotido Municipality in financial year 2024/2025.

The materials include; 1,735.7 trips of gravel, 250 bags of cement, 25 trips of hardcore, and 10 trips of sand.

In addition, the Town Clerk and the Senior Civil Engineer are accused of neglecting their official duties by failing to supervise, monitor, and ensure compliance with approved guidelines during the construction and maintenance of several roads.

The affected roads include Miresiae–Napawu Road, Morungor–Kotyanga Road, Nangayum–Kawlapei Road, Chairman’s Road, Business Road, and Romrom–Nakutakuwam Road.
The suspects are expected to be arraigned before court.
