KAMPALA-UGANDA/NEWSDAY: Five years after he fled the country, former Kampala South Police Commander Siraje Bakaleke has been arrested in Kampala after a secret return in the country last November.
Mr. Bakale was declared an AWOL (Absent without official leave) in 2018 after his escape from the country following his alleged mastermind of an arrested of a Korean Gold dealer, Mr. Ha Dongsub at the Forest Mall.
Mr. Ha’s arrest was a blackmail gig to threaten him from pursuing the theft of his money that suspected police officers including Bakale had stolen.
Bakaleke with other accomplices was accused of theft, fraud and Kidnap along with other police officers including Robert Munezero, Samuel Nabeta, Innocent Nuwagaba, Keneth Zirintuusa, Ray Asiimwe and Junior Amanya.
During his control as police commander, Bakaleke governed with terror and political partisanship witch hunting opposition members.
After his escape a red notice was issued against him. In November, sources said the thought the cases against him had been buried and returned into the country where he lived a quiet life before his arrest late last week. He is being detained at the Kampala Railway Police grounds.
Bakaleke may this wek stand trial on his old case file No. 0095/2018 at the anti corruption court in Kololo.
