WAKISO-UGANDA/NEWSDAY: A man who had separated with his wife has committed suicide living their 8 month old baby under a tree on which he took his life.

The deceased, a forty year old, identified as Ssemakula alias Kagame and resident of Nakabugo village, Kalambi along Mityana road was found hanging on a rope while the baby was crying.

Ssemakula was a painter around the areas of Bulaga, Bulenga, Nakuwadde and sorrounding areas including
Kireka Bira in Wakiso sub county Wakiso district.

Preliminary reports indicate that he was seen moving with his baby at about 7am and at 830am was found dead.

“Police received information from the area defence Kireka Bbira village Wakiso district that there’s person who has committed suicide under a tree in Kireka Bbira village Nakabugo parish in Wakiso District. We responded to the scene and recorded statements from witnesses.
Body retrieved from the tree and exhibit of the cloth that was used recovered,” Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson Patrick Onyango said in a statement.

The body was taken to Mulago city mortuary for autopsy.

Family troubles

Witnesses said that Mr. Ssemakula had reportedly seoerated with his wife a month back and that morning after financial difficulties that led to constant brawls.
