MBARARA: The Member of Parliament for Mbarara City North, Dr Robert Mwesigwa Rukaari, has intensified efforts to crack the whip against land grabbers.

On Monday, Rukaari delivered poles and barbed wire to Kyarwabuganda in Mbarara City to be used to fence off the more 10 hectares of public land.

While delivering the poles, Rukaari said as long as he is still Member of Parliament, no one will steal any land that belongs to the government.

Rukaari said, together with other local leaders they had fought a big battle up to the lands ministry to have the land grabbers arrested.

He said so far the land title had been secured and the land was safe.

The MP also promised to enlarge the dam at Kyarwabuganda which is being used to draw water for domestic and farm usage.

Earlier at Kabagarame, the legislator handed over a public address system to the area residents, supported the boda boda stage so that they can register their stage with the city authorities.

He also visited the government land at Kanywa where he promised to deliver poles and barbed wire to fence off the land. Dr Rukaari said he would rehabilitate the dam at Kanywa which is vital for both domestic and farm use.
