TANZANIA. A Ugandan-based organization is under investigation for misusing funds worth one million Euros (shs4 billion) which was meant to put solar at a hospital in Tanzania.

Social Media in Arusha reported that Tusaidiane acquired the money to put up solar systems at three hospitals; Rubya in Tanzania and two others in Uganda.

However, reports received indicate that the solar project in Tanzania which was given to a company called Josnorm by Tusaidiane was ill-handled, hence it collapsed.

Reports say the project was later concluded by engineers from Germany under a fresh contract by the Europe-based funders. The funds came from the Congregation of the Franciscan Sisters “Alles voor Allen” (CONGRAVA).

Investigators also want to find out whether the Kampala-based organization is licensed to operate in the region.

Information posted on Tusaidiane website indicates that the project was completed in 2023 by Dorard Contractors.

Tusaidiane was founded in 2000 in the Netherlands as a private initiative with Cordaid Lenten campaign, finally resulting in the “Stitching Tusaidiane” (Tusaidiane Foundation).

At the end of 2019 the Tusaidiane Foundation of the Netherlands concluded a cooperation agreement with their donor partner the Mirembe Foundation of the Netherlands.

Contacted, the Ugandan police said they were still organising files and would get back in due course.

We could not get a quick comment from Tusaidiane as their published phone numbers went unaswered.
