Maj Gen Abel Kandiho has bounced back into major security operations following his new appointment by the president.
President Yoweri Museveni The commander in chief, on Friday appointment the General to the new portfolio of his senior presidential advisor in charge of classified operations.
The general had been dropped from the office of police chief of joint staff where he had served for two year and made a special advisor.
According to a senior source in intelligence, the new office puts him at a top most position of very active classified operations the work he is so good at.
Before his deployment at the police force, Gen Abel Kandiho had between 2017 and 2022 served as the chief of chieftaincy of military intelligence ( CMI) which has recently been transformed into Defense intelligence and security in the UPDF.
Before being moved from CMI, he was threatened with American sanctions accusing him of excesses in human rights but which he ditched saying they were rather political when he was no politician.
From 25 January 2022 until 8 February 2022, he was assigned to duty in South Sudan, as a Special Envoy. However, this assignment was reversed and instead he was appointed Chief of Joint Staff of Uganda Police Force.
