THE city of Kampala is doubling in it’s stinking because of piling volumes of wastes after garbage collectors cannot dump in Kiteezi over the recent tragedy.
According to Kampala Lord mayor ,Hajj Erias Lukwago, the city is stinking because Kiteezi landfill cannot be utilized yet local leaders in Mukono and Wakiso where KCCA own accres of land are resisting garbage dumplings.
” We are stuck and in discussion to convince our neighbors accept our wastes and we forge ahead” said Hajj Lukwago.
Following the Kiteezi incident, KCCA cannot make use of the place any more since operations to recover missing bodies is underway.
Kiteezi landfill collapsed on three villages on August 10,2024 killing over 21 people , injuring many and displacing others.
Meanwhile Uganda police is still stuck with seven bodies after owners have not claimed it.
The police spokesperson Kituuma Rusoke, told Media that about seven bodies remain unclaimed and called upon those with missing bodies to work with police.
Among those confirmed dead, 12 were men, 9 were females while 4 were children.
