BUNAMWAYA
While some burrial wishes of the late outspoken political commentator, late Tamale Mirundi have been respected, his family has dumped a number of them for cultural conformity and respect.
During the first night of his death, the mourners were allowed to party as they danced and drunk at his vigil as the late Mirundi had willed.
However during a church session , the family spokesperson and elder brother Mr John Ssali said they have agreed to underlook so
me funny requests of their late brother.
He appealed for forgiveness for his sibling’s past transgressions.
The requiem mass was held for Mirundi at St. Gyaviira Parish Catholic Church in Bunamwaya on Wednesday.
After thanking the church for allowing the family to hold a requiem mass admitting that they had fears that the church might decline due to Mirundi’s controversial public persona but which the church moved past and allowed the service, Ssali went on to apologize to all who the late wronged.
He said some of Mirundi’s statements were inappropriate and should not be taken seriously.
“Can someone who says that he should be buried with his head out be taken seriously?” Ssembuya asked the congregation, highlighting the late commentator’s often provocative rhetoric.
He said he was planning to seek audience with the Katikkiro of Buganda to seek forgiveness from the Katikkiro for any wrongs committed by Mirundi noting that Mmengo was still unhappy with Mirundi that’s why they had not mourned with the family as of then.
The main celebrant of the mass was Fr. Francis Ssemuddu. Mirundi, aged 60, passed away on Tuesday at Kisubi Hospital due to pneumonia
