Police in Rubanda are investigating circumstances surrounding the death of a 20 years old Joseph Citibank a Porter and resident of Kasalaga cell Zigoti sub county in Mityana district.

This occurred on the
19/08/2024 at 0100hrs at Hamuhambo T/centre Hamuhambo ward Hamuhambo T/council Rubanda district, after the deceased was allegedly assaulted by some local residents when they developed some misunderstandings.

So far two suspects with whom the deceased were with have been arrested to help in investigations, they are;
1.Kakande Ibra 20yrs old Manson resident of Kasalaga cell Zigoti sub county Mityana district.

2.Amanyire Branson aged 17 yrs old a Porter resident of Rubanga cell Nyabikungu parish Kinoni s/county Mbarara District.

It’s alleged that on 18/08/2024 at around 2100hrs the deceased together with the two suspects and other workers left the site at Bushura cell and went to Hamuhambo T/centre for social evening.
That at around midnight the three developed a quarrel with locals yet to be identified and fought but they managed to run away to where they stay at the site but Joseph the deceased didn’t reach home.
The two, Amanyire and Kakande Ibra first went to the nearby clinic for first aid and on their way back, they met a boda boda rider who told them that there’s a man being beaten on the way.
They went and found out to be the deceased but was still alive.

Police at Bunyonyi were notified and the victim was taken to Rugarama hospital where he died on arrival.

A case of murder was registered at Bunyonyi police post, later Rubanda CPS CRB 331/2024.
A team of Homicide booked out to Rugarama Hospital mortuary where postmortem was done later proceeded to Hamuhambo T council where the scene of crime was visited and documented.
Statements of witnesses were recorded and the two suspects were arrested to help in investigation.
