Bujiri Officials Charged For FraudBugiri officials who messed up with PDM money were charged.

BUJIRI

ANTI graft agencies yesterday made another stride when they arrested and charged six officials from Bujiri district for messing with PDM funds.

They were nabbed by State House Anti Corruption Unit, Uganda police and the office of the DPP.

They were on Monday 9th September, 2024 arraigned before the Chief Magistrate’s Court Bugiri.

They included Assistant Town Clerk, Busowa Town Council, a Parish Chief of Buwanga sub county, Busowa parish and four PDM SACCO leaders of Busowa Town Council, Bugiri district and charged for obtaining money by false pretense and conspiracy to defraud.

Court heard that , Mr Mugunda Azedy- Assistant Town Clerk, Busowa Town Council Community Development Officer ,Maka Christopher the Parish Chief, Bupala and Busoga Parish
and Mr Kawudhu Mathias the chair person, Nawandhuki Busowa Saaco colluded to fraud.

Others are Mr Balidawa Stephen , chair person Nakidudula Busowa Saaco,
Mr Makiika Stephen ,chair person Nakawa Busowa Saaco, and Mr Waiswa Hassan a businessman .

They have been remanded until 23/09/2024.

These along with others who are still at large between January and June 2024 in Bugiri District, conspired and defrauded millions of shillings from the beneficiaries of different PDM SACCOS by falsely pretending that the money they were collecting was for PDM activities such as; Renting space, buying furninture, printing vouchers, PDM files, appraisals, and photographs where as not.

Additionally, they charged fees to each beneficiary of their SACCOs which is against PDM guidelines.
