OPERATION SHUJAA JOINT FORCES RESCUE 40 RECOVERS 9 GUNS IN CONGO

The joint operation between uganda people’s defence forces UPDF and the armed forces of the congleese army (FARDC) more known as ‘
operation shujaa ‘against the terrorists allied democratic forces (ADF) currently on going in Eastern democratic Republic of Congo yesterday rescued 40 people mostly women and children from the ADF after a fierce fighting in Biakato, Mambasa territory , 67 km north west of Beni in ituri provinces.

The fighting that took place yesterday also saw the joint forces recover 9 guns including 08 sub machine guns (SMGs) and 01 PKM, 06 walk talkies, several rounds of ammunition, Magazines and other items including human drugs.

The joint forces also put out of action 27 ADF terrorists in the fight and injured several. One soldier from the joint forces was injured in the leg. The injured soldier together with the rescued women and children were flown to UPDF Muhote hospital for medical attention.

The UPDF operation shujaa commander flew to Biakato to bring out the rescued, congratulate and morale boost the troops for the job so far well done. Gen Otto recieved an overwhelming welcome from the people of Biakato who applauded the joint forces for saving the Wannaichi.

19 of the rescued are Ugandans from different parts of Uganda including Kyazanga, Mayuge, Nyanama, Magamaga and other areas.

Major Bilal Katamba the spokesperson for the operation shujaa said the operation for the terrorists linked to ISIS and affiliated to the Islamic state of central Africa province (ISCAP) Wil continue as the joint forces seek to completely deal a final blow to the ADF which has been causing mayhem to the population.
