Gomba State House Anti Corruption Led Operation Nets 5 Land Grabbers, Remanded

“Under the guise of opening boundaries,they violently took possession of over 600 acres of land”
COURT in Gomba has remanded five people for allegedly violently taking over 600 acres of land and causing destruction.
They were Tuesday 12 November,2024, arraigned before the Gomba Chief Magistrates Court who sent them on remand until November 19,2024.
The suspects include; Nuwahereza Allan Katakanya,.Mudenyi Gerald, Nabimanya David, Ssenoga Abdu and Kisenyi Harunah.
The five were charged with forcible entry, forcible detainer, destroying growing plants and conspiracy to commit a misdemenour and a felony.
Court heard that in
September 2024, the accused together with others still at large, under the guise of conducting a boundary opening, violently took possession of over 600 acres of land comprised in FRV 60 folio 4 in Musongole village, Mpenja subcounty, Gomba District.
The said land belongs to Madhvani Group Limited.
It’s alleged that in the process of grabbing this land, they destroyed tea plantations and over 540 acres of natural forest.
Investigations are ongoing to establish, among others, how an overlapping title was created in October 2024, on a land title registered in the names of Madhvani Group in 1955.
