M7 Former Spokesman To Be Burried 60 Days After His Death As He Willed

TWO of the men who once occupied the presidential press secretary’s office will be remembered for their controversy in death.
The stories which surrounded the late Joseph Tamale Mirundi in death and burial remain clear in people’s minds.
Now another , Hon Onapito Ekomoloit who actually preceded Tamale Mirundi as press secretary to president Museveni has raised standards in death when he asked to remain on earth atleast sixty days after his death .
In his will, the late asked mourners to preserve his body and only put it in his grave 60 Days after which was observed.
Meanwhile the Government of Uganda has announced the official burial arrangements for Onapito who was also a former board chairman of Nile Breweries Limited.
He passed away on September 27, 2024, at the age of 58.
The Minister for the Presidency, Hon. Milly Babirye Babalanda said government expressed its condolences to the family, Nile Breweries, the journalism fraternity, and the Ugandan public at large.
Born on April 26, 1966, in Asalatap, Wera, Amuria District, he began his education in Amuria and Pallisa before pursuing higher studies at Makerere University and the American University in Washington, D.C.
He would later develope into a journalist, lecturer, member of Parliament and a presidential press secretary before
Playing a role at Nile Breweries which saw him become board chairman in 2022.
The body on November 27, will be moved from Mulago Hospital to Mengo Funeral Home and later to St. Luke’s Church in Ntinda for a service.
It will then proceed to Nile Breweries in Jinja and Soroti City for further ceremonies before returning to his home village of Asalatap for a final vigil and burial on November 30, 2024.
