The promotions helped streamline police management since some of those promoted were working in acting capacity given the lower ranks they held yet the new police act says otherwise.

Police spokesperson, Kituuma Rusoke, told media that those promoted include , James Apora( director logistics and engineering), Lawrence Niwabiine(director traffic police), Joseph Obwona( Interpol), Steven Tanui( Fire and rescue services) and Geoffrey Musana to the next rank of AIGP.

Information available indicates that Apora, Niwabiine, Obwona and Tanui were serving as directors for logistics, traffic police, and fire and rescue services in acting capacity and therefore had to be promoted to the next rank of Assistant Inspector General of Police to rhyme with the act.

Police directors must be at the rank of AIGP, the third highest rank in the force.

Geoffrey Musana was also appointed the deputy director for logistics and engineering.
