KAMPALA
Two Kampala business men were Friday, February 21,2025 charged in a matter were they defrauded over two billion Uganda shillings by electronic fraud.
Kasenge Martin, aka Tumusiime Denis, a businessman, and Kaweesa Ronald, a painter were praded before the Buganda Road Chief Magistrates Court, on charges of electronic fraud, Obtaining money by false pretence and conspiracy to commit a felony.
The accused join Mr Balondemu David, the Kampala District Land Board Chairperson, Mkwe Eric, Ibona Joseph, and others who were earlier charged on the same matter relating to the defrauding of UGX 2.2 Billion from an American company, KG Unlimited LLC.
Investigations revealed that, between November 2022 and April 2023, the accused defrauded the investors while purporting that they were to award them a contract for the procurement and supply of a water plant by the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries, whereas not.
All the money is said to have been received by Kaweesa Ronald, the carpenter through M/s Bloom Advocates on behalf of the fraudsters.
They denied the charges and were remanded until 26/02/25
