One of the prominent former NRA bush war hero who later came out to expose the revolution as having derailed from it’s original course Maj John Kazoora has departed.

Kazoora, a former Member of Parliament for Kashari County and one-time Director of Operations in the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) died over Easter weekend.

According to family and media reports including the Chimp Reports, his death was confirmed on Easter Sunday morning but details of the cause of his demise remain undisclosed.

Kazoora known to have been among the inner circle of the NRA force in the early days through out the war in Luweero is the author of the critical book of ” Betrayed By My Leader” in which he exposed the revolution weakness and turn around.

His book is said to have disillusioned many people about the NRA revolution before and after it seized power and who actually welded it almost alone or with some small few explaining how some position were simply for formality with real power hidden somewhere else.

He would later shift trust and joined Dr Kiiza Besigye’s Forum For Democratic Change where he served as a director.

Those in the know told Media that Maj Kazoora fell critically ill at his home in Kigo off Entebbe road.

He was the rushed to Nakasero hospital where he was pronounced dead later.
Sources say he had kidney issues as well and has beenon dialysis since 2024.

He left the NRM in the early 2000s and became one of the founding members of the FDC, serving in key leadership roles within the party.

Kazoora represented Kashari County in Mbarara District in the Sixth Parliament (1996–2001) under the Movement system before joining multi-party politics.

He was outspoken on issues of governance, rule of law, and military involvement in politics. In 2006, he was appointed Director of Operations for FDC, working closely with party founder Dr. Kizza Besigye.

Beyond politics, Kazoora also served in the army and held the rank of Major before retiring. His transition from the military to civil leadership reflected his long-standing advocacy for democratic reforms in Uganda.

In later years, Kazoora kept a relatively low public profile, although he remained an occasional commentator on political affairs.

His death marks the passing of yet another figure from Uganda’s transition-era political landscape.

Details regarding burial arrangements are yet to be communicated by the family.
