The accused robbed Gold and cash at gun point.

Four police officers attached to the violent crackdown unit, the Flying Squad who allegedly robbed Gold and cash at gun point have been sent on remand.

The accused police officers who prosecution say betrayed their role and uniform allegedly robbed atleast one kilogram of gold valued at about US dollars 105,000 and then US dollars 1000 at gun point.

The accused include D/SP Besigye James Kiguuya 38, Muganda, a resident of Gganda Nansana, Wakiso district , Police number 55015 ,D/CPL Owana Simon36, an Acholi and resident of Nsambya police barracks, Mulangira Fracid Abdul 33, Munyankole resident of Kireka police barracks in Wakiso district and No 67507 D/C Monday Tibaijukira 35, Mukonjo and resident of Kireka barracks in Wakiso district.

All the four are attached to police Flying squad in Kireka.

According to prosecution, all the four are said to have attackey Mr John Tumukunde at Silent avenue on the evening of May 9, 2025 and robbed him of one kilogram of gold and Us dollars 1000 cash.

Court heard that the group was armed with a pistol and an AK 47 riffle.
According to information , the gold dealer Mr Tumukunde has just left a meeting with the potential buyer and had agreed to have the precious metal kept in a safe store but the police turned thugs robbed it.

Prosecution led by Martin Odongo told court that their actions contravened section 266 and 267(1)(b) of the penal code act tantamounting to aggravated robbery.

They were there fore not supposed to take plea since the matter can only be handled at High Court’s level.

They were there remanded as Investigations continue.

The accused dressed in hoods and funny attires trying to hide their faces before a parked court.
