Investigators handling ASP Clive Nsiima case of assault and threatening violence have been told that he nearly shot a security guard during the incident.
They Nsiima allegedly drew a pistol at a private security guard before slapping Ms. Atuhumurize an attendant at Shell Kyanja supermarket.
Nsiima, attached to the Counter Terrorism Directorate under the Oil and Gas Protection Unit, was arrested on Tuesday after a viral CCTV video showed him striking the female attendant inside the supermarket.
Those who were around narrated that Nsiima arrived visibly drunk, picked items from the supermarket, and attempted to leave without paying.
Media reports revealed that
“Nsiima always comes here drunk and takes things from the supermarket but leaves without paying,”
They added that
“He only turns up a few weeks later and pays.”
It was alleged that on that
fateful day, Ms. Atuhumurize, a newly assigned cashier, followed him outside the store after seing he had not paid and a security guard from Tayari security closed in to beef her.
But Nsiima allegedly drew his pistol and pointed it at the guard, threatening to shoot.
“He cocked his gun and aimed it at the security guard causing people to panic ” a witness said.
They told investigations that it was at this point that Nsiima reportedly returned to the supermarket, where he offered to pay via mobile money and furiously went for Atuhumurize and slapped her twice sighting embarrassment saying, “I can slap you even with these cameras here, and tomorrow we go to court”
Over the weekend Uganda police spokesman Kituuma Rusoke confirmed Nsiima’s arrest and a case had been registered at Kyanja Police Post under reference 08/07/10/25 as Assault and Threatening Violence.
