The Director of the State House Health monitoring unit Dr. Warren Namara, has revealed that a joint security operation foiled an attempted robbery of medical equipment worth millions of shillings from the National Medial Stores (NMS) Warehouse in Entebbe in the wee hours of Sunday.Dr Namara noted that two of the robbers are currently being treated in the hospital and another after the forces foiled the attempted break in of the storage facility, located along Kampala Road.
Dr Namara said the thieves were packing the stolen equipment in a Toyota Hiace van with fake number plates UBB 677Q at the front and UBD 677Q at the back which they had parked close to the entrance of the storage facility.

“That is fake yellow cello tape strip, it has also got numbers that are fake, it has also lot of concealment around it, we don’t think it was a one-off or an accidental an unplanned event, no this was a planned event, we also don’t think this is the first time because of the way they were organised” he said.
Dr Namara said the thieves had a gas regulator which they connected to welding gas to burn the metals and enter the warehouse.
Dr Namara said the unit is working closely with the CID to question the three suspects as investigations into the attempted robbery commence.
The Principal Public Relations Officer, National Medical Stores (NMS) Ms Sheilla Nduhukire noted that the thieves attempted to make away with equipment worth UGX 100 million from the warehouse.
“Security was able to recover 78 boxes of disposable gloves and 19 boxes of oxygen regulators worth approximately UGX 100 million, these items have now been moved to the Entebbe Police Station for further investigations” she said.
