KAMPALA-UGANDA/NEWSDAY: Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi has sent a rare voice eulogy to his fallen servant Teddy Nakajja who died on Wednesday after a blood clot.

Newsday had reported Nakajja died of covid19 but the Kabaka has officially indicated she died after a blood clot.

“Her death was a result of the blockage in one of her veins, a blood clot that resulted from an accident last week when she was delivering her baby to hospital. We are appalled as we mourn the death of Teddy Nakajja,” Kabaka said in an audio statement released Thursday night.

Kabaka described her as an obedient, humble and trustworthy servant who since the 1993 coronation when Nakajja was only 9 years has served in the palace in various roles including as a receptionist for official guests and a caretaker who raised young princes and princesses with love.

“She loved them fondly (princes and princesses) and they reciprocated. I witnessed this personally. By the time she died was raising a grandchild Naava,” Kabaka said.

Nakajja hailed from the Nvuma clan. She had been elevated to the post of an archivist in the palace office by the time of her death.

The Kabaka said Nakajja had her studies while she stayed in Lubiri and she received cultural training from senior women whenever she returned from school, achieving humility and this is the reason why the Kabaka personally directed her deployment in the palace.

“Today I want to appreciate the servants who started service when the kingdom had just been restored, serving without a pay. I thank their parents who sent them to the palace,” Kabaka Mutebi said.

Nakajja’s legacy, Kabaka said is testament that youths who love the kingdom can achieve their development aspirations while serving in the kingdom.
