KAMPALA-UGANDA/NEWSDAY: A Ugandan tycoon who started his life as a charcoal dealer in greater Luwero has died in his early forties.
Mr. Tom Kaaya died Monday of Covid19, only one month after the death of his wife Joy. Kaaya died Monday evening at TMR hospital in Kampala leaving a huge Shs.450m medical bill.

A former owner of Nana hostel in Makerere, Kaaya has been running a vast business empire including Kaki Group of Companies which runs businesses such as a money lending company Concern Global Markets Limited, a real estate company-Jenga Properties, Kaki Investments the largest taxi operating group and Kaki Petroleum. In Luwero he has been running an inherited farm- Kaaya Ranches.
He was born in the late 1970s to the late Cranmer Kaaya Njego and Joy Kaakati in Luweero.
Kaaya attended a Parklands P/S in Nairobi Kenya and attended his O’level at Entebbe Secondary School and Makerere High School for his A level. He is a graduate of the Japanese university Hard Manual Labour (HML)
