KAMPALA-UGANDA/NEWSDAY: Pictures of Kabaka Mutebi went viral August 10 as he arrived and stood outside a shopping mall in Germany, where he went for specialized medical care.

His travel to Germany came only a few days after his meeting with President Museveni at State House Nakasero on August 3 where the two discussed a wide range of issues.

State House sources had earlier indicated to Newsday Mr. Museveni was concerned about Kabaka’s health and that he directed a State house team to arrange a quick travel for the Kabaka abroad for treatment, although the main meeting focus was Ebyaffe and Mailo Land tenure.

And Museveni seemed to confirm he had a hand in Kabaka’s travel when during a Sunday Vision interview published on August 8, he said he would have another meeting when Kabaka returns from abroad. Museveni’s revelation came before photos were circulated on Tuesday showing the Kabaka in Germany.

On several occasions, Mengo had declined suggestions to take Kabaka abroad for specialized treatment.

Kabaka Mutebi according to officials at Bulange Mengo is suffering from an allergy that has been worsened by the use of covid19 masks. This official statement, made on April 16 disputed earlier allegation from the public he had been poisoned.

“We all face health challenges from time. And they need to be effectively managed and in the Kabaka’s case, the challenges are related to allergies which when they attack him cause breathing difficulties especially when he has a mask or a shield over his face,” Katikkiro Peter Mayiga said, after Kabaka appeared ill on his 66th birthday celebrations at Mengo palace.

“I would also like to dispel rumors being posted on different social media platforms, they are baseless and should be disregarded otherwise they will cause undue anxiety “Mayiga said and assured Ugandans that the Kabaka’s condition is being handled with great expertise.

But on April 17, Veteran politician and bush war hero, Hajji Abdul Nadduli has attacked the Katikkiro Charles Peter Mayiga for telling a “wrong thing” to the nation on Friday that Kabaka Ronald Mutebi is suffering from an allergy although he provided no evidence.

“As far as I know, a transplant has already been done. The situation now is that the body (of Kabaka) has not yet gotten used to the new kidney that has been placed in Kabaka’s body,” Nadduli said on April 17.
