HOIMA-UGANDA/NEWSDAY: In a continuing pursuit for a corrupt free governance system, the State House Anti Corruption Unit (SH-ACU) headed by Col Edith Nakalema has apprehended the Hoima LCV chairman and other leaders over misuse of government equipment.
Hoima LC5 Chairperson, Karungi Kadiri, his Vice – Chiche Benson and two councillors were detained by Col Nakalema’s team in liason with police, on August 27 and yesterday on September 7, they were arraigned efore court.
The leaders were prosecuted by Ocen Julius before Chief Magistrate Opio James with forgery and conspiracy to commit to a felony. Court granted them a cash bail of Shs.1.5m each and Shs.10m non-cash bail to the sureties. They will appear again in court on October 13, 2021.
“Impunity shouldn’t be allowed to fester!”, Col. Nakalema tweeted on Tuesday in reference to the arraignment of the officials in court.
They had hired out the district roadworks’ equipment to a private farmer in Kaduuhi village, Kiryandongo district. It is said the leaders from the hiring deal, they fetched Sh. 30m.
