KAMPALA-UGANDA/NEWSDAY: The family of the late Bulaimu Muwanga Kibirige aka BMK have said the late businessman was supposed to die in 2017.
“When he was diagnosed with grade II cancer in 2015, he was notified he would die in two years. That he has lived on until 2021, is a miracle and a sign God loved him,” one of the children said addressing mourners.
BMK died early on Friday from Agakhan Hospital in Kenya where he had been receiving medication. He was buried on Sunday at Nkoowe cemetery which he himself launched for the Muslim community.
Meanwhile Mufti Shaban Ramadhan Mubaje has paid tribute to the late BMK for being steadfast, visionary and a master of business.
“And above all his struggles to live in accordance with Islamic values and norms, ”a statement signed by Zziwa Ashiraf, the Uganda Muslim Supreme Council (UMSC) Spokesperson said on Sunday.
“UMSC commiserates with President Museveni, the family, business associates as well wishers of Haj Kibirige upon of his demise,” the statement reads.

At the burial site in Nkoowe the minister of Works and Transport Gen Katumba Wamala, the deputy Speaker of Parliament Anita Among were some of the key figures attending. Katikkiro Charles Peter Mayiga also attended as chief mourner.
