Mukono-Uganda/Newsday: The Ex-HM and lecturer of Uganda’s top academic institutions, Dr. Peregrine Kibuuka has died. He was aged 74.
He was at the helm of Namilyango college between 1986 and 2001. Kibuuka was a teacher at Ndejje Secondary School between 1972-1978. He later served at John’s SS Nandere in 1979 as headteacher.
In 1981 Kibuuka served as head teacher at St Kalemba SS Nazigo until 1986 when he was transferred to Namilyango College where he served for 16 years and immediately he joined St.Peters SS Nsambya where he retired.
Dr Kibuuka has lectured at Makerere and Bugema Universities.
He attended Ggaba National Major Seminary but soon before graduating as a priest in1966, he called it quits only to complete his seminary studies in Rome where he was ordained.
He was borne to Yuriana and Clement Kibuuka in 1946. Dr Kibuuka was married to Jane Frances Kibuuka and they had four children.
Kibuuka had opted to join Nyenga Minor Seminary in 1957 at the tender age of 12 by his own will because he was inspired by the exemplary behaviour and lifestyle of late Msgr. Lawrence Mbwenga, who was then chief priest at his home parish of Namilyango.
Kibuuka was a schoolmate at Nyenga Minor Seminary with the late Archbishop Cyprian Kizito Lwanga in 1963.
Kibuuka also studied Philosophy for the first two years and later switched to Theological studies at Gaba.
Kibuuka sat his A level at Namilyango college during the era of Fr. Kuipers as headteacher. Because of of exception intellect, Kibuuka did S.5 in only one term and got promoted to S.6. He joined Makerere University in 1968 for BA in in English literature after which he pursued a post graduate diploma in Education.
He held a doctorate in Education Administration and Planning from Makerere University.
Kibuuka has served as a board council member for Kyambogo and Uganda Martyrs Universities.
