A Jinja based senior Laboratory technologist Razak Waswa has been remanded for forging Covid-19 results for Dr.Kirabo Mathew, the prime suspect in the 2015 murder of Desire Mirembe.

Using the false results, presented by his lawyer, Opwonyo, Dr. Kirabo Mathew skipped court on November 3 on claims he was hospitalized in Jinja suffering from covid19.

But investigations found out Dr. Kirabo had not contracted covid19 and that his lawyers only used forged covid19 results to deceive court. Razak was arrested last week and arraigned before a magistrate’s court on Friday and remanded.

High court in Mukono presided over by Justice Henry Isabirye Kaweesa again on Wednesday November 10, could not continue as Dr. Kirabo was still missing. Kaweesa gave a one week ultimatum to the accused’s sureties to produce him in Court.

“If you don’t produce the person you will pay surety bond of Shs. 50million each and also hold you to produce him in court,” Justice Kaweesa said.

Kirabo’s sureties are his mother Ms. Emelda Wabulendo, his uncle Benard Mbayo and one Nelson whom the lawyer claimed that he died.

Rights activist and Sisimuka Uganda CEO Frank Gashumba praised the remand of Razak as a step to stem out forgery and impunity.

Gashumba says that the pursuit for the arrest of Dr. Kirabo is still on.
