Kabaka Mutebi hits out at President Museveni over divisionism, segregation

KAMPALA-UGANDA/NEWSDAY: The Kabaka, Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II has hit out at President Yoweri Museveni over bad governance and divisionism which has deviated Uganda from its national motto “For God and My Country.”

In his undated two page end of year message, the Kabaka said that the country is being eroded from what it stands for but called upon leaders to reflect upon themselves and act rightly during this Christmas holiday.

The Kabaka said that what is seen and read in the media demeans God citing segregation, suppression, theft of public funds, and selfishness among others as evils that the nation should overcome.

The Kabaka also criticized oppression, detention without trial, divide and rule and grabbing from the vulnerable.

“Those behind the evils including security agencies, politicians and other leaders at different levels should reflect upon their actions. We wish you a merry Christmas and happy new year,” the Kabaka said.

He said for the second year running the covid19 pandemic was still raging to the detriment of economic growth and social development and rallied Ugandans to continue observing the covid19 standard operating procedures.

He asked a stakeholders in the education sector to ensure a smooth reopening of schools next year.

The Kabaka has in the past heightened his criticism of Museveni’s regime. Bulange-Mengo, the headquarters of Buganda Kingdom is at loggerheads after government proposals to scrap the mailo land tenure system that is mainly in Buganda.
