KAMPALA-UGANDA/NEWSDAY: The new Head of the State House Anti Corruption Unit (SH-ACU) Brig. Isoke Henry assumed office on Saturday pledging to deploy “all my energy” to fight Corruption.
He said he was confident ” the war against corruption is winnable” assuring the public to follow-up on all Corruption alerts that will be offered.
“And we will act upon all information expeditiously- with professionalism” Brigadier Isoke said.
He takes over from an acclaimed Colonel, Edith Nakalema Asizuwa whose effort in combating corruption has seen the once untouchable sent to jail the National Defence College in Katosi for a one year strategic planning course.
During the handover, Col. Nakalema thanked the president for appointing her into the office. She has served for three years.
“I thank the President for his support in the fight against corruption.I am getting empowered I will not stop to fight corruption.I am proud to hand over office to Brig Isoke.I appeal the media fraternity and the public to continue supporting the war against corruption,” Col Nakalema said.
About Brig Isoke
In 1986, he joined the National Resistance Army (NRA) now Uganda People’s Defense Forces as a private after he had just graduated.
He has attended a host of military courses including the Battalion Intelligence Officers Course (1987/1988, Uganda), Officer Basic Course (1992, Uganda), Brigade Officers’ Intelligence Course (Fort Houachuka, Arizona-USA,1996).
He trained at a Senior Staff and Command Course (Lusaka, Zambia, 2008), and Intelligence Course (National Defence School of Intelligence-DSI, Chicksands, UK, 2012).
He has attended to military and leadership institutes in the United Kingdom, Kenya and in many other European and African military academies.
Brig Isoke once served as head of Peace Operations Department at the Eastern Africa Standby Force (EASF) Secretariat in Nairobi.
Between 1997 and 1998, Brig Isoke was deployed to Bundibugyo Zone in the Rwenzori region to fight the ADF and between 2011 and 2012, he served in Mogadishu, Somalia under the African Union Mission to Somalia (Amisom) to fight against Islamist militants al-Shabaab.
