Kampala Metropolitan Police Deputy Spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire says the a child who drowned in a swimming pool at Speke Resort Munyonyo was left unattended to by her parents Nabawesi Florence and the father only identified as Micheal.
“The incident was captured in the CCTV footage recovered from the premises. The child was rescued and given CPR by first responders and later taken to Mulago Hospital for treatment, but she was pronounced dead upon arrival,” Owoyesigyire said in a statement on Tuesday.
Oweyesigire said investigations into the incident are on and currently, it has been ascertained that there was some Negligence exhibited by the parents.
He urged parents to always keep a close eye on their children while moving into new environments.
“Investigations are ongoing and more communication will be done at an opportune time. We are also conveying our condolences to the bereaved family on the death of their child,” he added.
