Samuel Mwesige a businessman in Kisaasi Kampala suburb was last week assaulted by KCCA enforcement team to the extent of losing his eye and teeth.

He alleges that he was beaten up by a group of KCCA enforcement team that was commanded by one Stuart, he is now helpless and wants justice.

Last week a group of Kampala capital city Authority enforcement officers raided Kisaasi where they impounded lots of items from street vendors who were forbidden from operating on the streets.

Some of the items that were impounded are reported to have belonged to Mzee Moses Ssendaula a relative to Mwesige.

Mwesige tried to follow up on mzee Ssendaula whom the KCCA operatives had put on the pickup but on arrival, it is reported that a number of KCCA officers pounced on him seriously beating him up on the face. Mwesige alleges that the people who beat him up were working on the orders of Stuart.

Mwesige who is now helpless with a fallen face says he wants justice to prevail by arresting the commander of the operation because he was not only beaten but his Items were taken as well.

The Local Council of Kisaasi trading centre, where the majority of the street vendors operate, says they don’t know where the KCCA enforcement team takes impounded Items.

Recently, deputy spokesperson of KCCA Robert Kalumba Said, trading on the streets is illegal but using brute force and beating up vendors is not allowed.

Kalumba said that they are receiving alot of complaints about some KCCA operatives and promised that they are going to look into the matter.

For now, Mwesige hopes that justice will be expedited so that he is compensated for what he has lost.
According to Mwesige, on the command of Stuart, he was pushed into the KCCA pickup with others and taken to Kira police station where they spent a night.
End..
