Kampala Archdiocese has announced the death of the Archbishop, His Grace Dr. Cyprian Kwanga Kizito.
“With deep sorrow, I hereby inform you that our beloved Shephered, has been called to the house of the Lord,” a statement by the the chancellor Fr Pius Male Ssentumbwe said on Saturday.
“The Archbishop was found dead in his room this morning. We pray that the Almighty and merciful of God strengthen us all,” Fr. Ssentumbwe said.
He first became a Chaplain of His Holiness in 1986 before receiving a canon Doctorate in Canon Law of the Pontifical Urban University in Rome.
Lwanga was the pioneer bishop of the Diocese of Kasana-Luweero on 16 November 1996, he was ordained bishop on March1 1997 at his new diocease.
He became the third Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Kampala on 19 August 2006 and was installed on 30 September 2006 at Rubaga Cathedral, succeeding Cardinal Emmanuel Wamala.
On Good Friday he participated in moving the way of the cross with other church leaders.
