Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago has been flown to Nairobi, Kenya for further treatment after last week’ collapse in Lubaga cathedral during a requiem mass for the late Archbishop Dr. Cyprian Kizito Lwanga.
According to sources, Lukwago left the country this week and is thought to be admitted to a hospital in Nairobi.
Newsday broke the news he had collapsed in Lubaga church and he was rushed to hospital.
His deputy Doreen Nyanjura later confirmed Lukwago had been hospitalized and given first Aid.
“He felt some discomfort and requested his aide to drive him to Lubaga Hospital for checkup. Upon diagnosis, it was found that his sugar levels had gone down,” Doreen Nyanjura her deputy said Monday afternoon in a statement.
“Consequently he was discharged and advised to go home and rest. I have checked on him and he is doing quite well,” Nyanjura said in a statement sent to Newsday.

Last year on November 24th, Lukwago was taken to Nairobi to seek further treatment at the hospital after he had been diagnosed with acute anaphylaxis, a severe and potentially life-threatening allergic reaction that experts say can occur within seconds or minutes of exposure to something one is allergic to.
On Sunday, his close friends told Newsday the Lord Mayor was in Nairobi but disputed the fact he was ill.
In his address, the National Unity Platform Principal Bobi Wine said he had spoken to Lukwago and “he told me he was in Nairobi but not ill.”
None of Lukwago’s aides had responded to our enquiries by publication of this article.
