Uganda’s hospitals have failed to manage the health of Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago, according to a statement by her deputy Ms. Doreen Nyanjura.

Nyanjura says Lukwago has been treated in four hospitals in Uganda but his condition is not reversing. He has consequently been referred to Nairobi Hospital for further management.

“Despite attending several medical facilities in Kampala including Lubaga Hospital, Platinum Hospital, Case Hospital, Norvic Hospital among others, the Lord Mayor was referred to Nairobi Hospital for further management,” Nyanjura said on Sunday Morning.

Nyanjura’s statement has since heightened talk of poison of the Lord Mayor among some of his supporters.

Supporters said that Lukwago was a big asset who the nation should not lose.

Bree Peace Comu said; “Quick recovery Omuloodi. So is it poison like many people are anticipating?”

Nsalika Moses said that said “whoever may have poisoned our Lord Mayor should give us an antidote”

Lukwago collapse in Lubaga cathedral during a requiem mass for the late Archbishop Dr. Cyprian Kizito Lwanga on Monday.

According to Nyanjura, Lukwago is suffering from recurring dizziness, persistent abdominal discomfort and severe chest pain.

“I spoke to the Lord Mayor today morning, he is stable and undergoing numerous tests,” Nyanjura said.

When Lukwago collapsed from church on Monday Ms. Nyanjura said he had been hospitalized and given first Aid at Lubaga.

“He felt some discomfort and requested his aide to drive him to Lubaga Hospital for checkup. Upon diagnosis, it was found that his sugar levels had gone down,” Doreen Nyanjura her deputy said Monday afternoon in a statement.

Last year on November 24th, Lukwago was taken to Nairobi to seek further treatment at the hospital after he had been diagnosed with acute anaphylaxis, a severe and potentially life-threatening allergic reaction that experts say can occur within seconds or minutes of exposure to something one is allergic to.

On Sunday, his close friends told Newsday the Lord Mayor was in Nairobi but disputed the fact he was ill.

In his address, the National Unity Platform Principal Bobi Wine said he had spoken to Lukwago and “he told me he was in Nairobi but not ill.”
