Rukungiri police are investigating circumstances surrounding the death of a senior four candidate of Rukungiri high school, a day to the completion of her Uganda Certificate of Education-UCE exams.

The deceased has been identified as Brenda Ankunda, a resident of Bugangari sub- County in Rukungiri district.

Her lifeless body was retrieved from Kahengye stream on Wednesday afternoon.

According to family sources, the deceased left school on Monday to prepare for her last, Swahili language on Thursday.

The school head teacher, Robert Mbasa, says that they waited for the student to return and seat the Kiswahili paper in vain.

“We sent Brenda home last week to prepare herself and come back for her last paper today. We waited up to 11: 00 am and decided to contact her family members but they were also surprised that she left for school on Monday evening,” the head teacher said.

Victor Arimpa, the Officer in Charge of Criminal Investigations at Rukungiri police says they have commenced investigations to establish how the student died.
