Four people have died while thirty-five others are critically injured after the vehicle they were traveling in overturned along Zombo-Nebbi Road.
The accident Sunday evening involving a lorry that was carrying over 50 people who were returning to Lira district from a traditional marriage in Zombo.
Police has identified the dead as Patrick Atala Ojede of Alutkot, Geoffrey Opio Olwol of Amwak village, Margaret Agweng of Atop village all in Loro, Oyam district and one unidentified lady from Nebbi district, who had boarded the truck to stop in Pakwach.
The lorry overturned at Jukia Hills 2 kilometers from Nebbi town on Nebbi-Paidha road.
Robert Abak, the RDC Nebbi district confirmed the death of the four and said a helicopter will today pick the critically injured for treatment in Lira Referral hospital. Abak added that five of those injured have been referred to Arua hospital, while seventeen are admitted in Nebbi hospital and 10 are admitted at Atapara hospital
In 2019, a vehicle carrying people for a marriage ceremony in Terego also overturned shortly after Pakwach bridge and killed at least four people.
