Buganda Kingdom has warned the public against consuming social media news that is intended to cause hate to Katikkiro Charles Pater Mayiga, members of the Royal family and Kabaka’s government officials.

In a statement released Tuesday April 20, 2021 evening, Kabaka’s Press secretary Dick Kasolo said that although it is understandable for the public to express concern and well wishes on the health of the Kabaka, it is against ethics to manipulate information peddle lies.

“There is a clear discernible plot by those enemies of Buganda to use this opportunity by creating rifts amongst the people of Buganda and undermining the Kabaka’s officials especially Katikkiro Mayiga,” Kasolo said.

He said that there is increasing concern and need to guard against speculative, false and out rightly malicious allegations circulating on social media.

Kasolo added that despite ongoing misinformation that the Kabaka has been admitted on emergency to Nakasero hospital a few days ago was a total lie that is intended to cause “fear, alarm and undue excitement”.

Kasolo noted that many social media users have directed attacks against members of the Royal family, the Katikkiro and officials of the Kabaka’s government as well as against eminent personalities.

He said that liars who disguise as being concern about the wellbeing of the Kingdom should not deceive should not be given a chance to be listened to.

Katikkiro Mayiga has faced a difficult time after the state of Kabaka’s health came to light. Social media users have criticized him for not telling the truth instead he opted to issue statements that the Kabaka was well until on April 13 at the celebrations of Kabaka’s 66th birthday that Kabaka appeared ill.
