Journalist Dean Saava held over alleged defamation

Journalist and founder of Gano Mazima, a YouTube channel, Mr. Dean Lubowa Saava is under detention and by 9pm on Wednesday he was still being questioned  by police detectives on alleged defamation.

The spokesperson of the criminal investigations department  Charles Twine said that Saava’s woes are to related to his broadcasts relayed on his Gano Mazima programs.

“We have him and we are probing the proof of his content,” Twiine said.

The lines of investigations relate to claims against businessmen Chris Kasami, Billionaire Dr Sudhir Ruperellia, Afande Mugyenyi and businessman Balaam Barugahara among others.

He added that if Saava fails to substantiate his claims then it will be that the purpose of his publication was monetary.
Mr. Ruparelia on Wednesday morning told Newsday that there was a fake guy spreading fake news .

“This guy was fired from NTV. He again went to NBS TV,he was also fired from there. He was later arrested  and spent years in Luzira Prison over theft. He is arrested now and now on his way to Kibuli,” Sudhir said.

In March 2018, Lubowa who had quit the media more than one year before was arrested running an employment recruitment agency in Kibuye, on the outskirts of Kampala which he reportedly used to recruit girls for middle East jobs.
