President Museveni takes oath as religious leaders ask to unite shattered nation.

Kololo. President Museveni has taken his oath for a term that will see him rule the nation for forty years.

Church of Uganda archbishop Dr. Kaziimba Mugalu and the Mufti Sheikh Ramadan Mubajje have blessed the new president both calling on him to ensure unity, prosperity for all and peace.

“We pray for a peaceful and prosperous nation where poverty is no more. We pray for a harmonious, educated nation where all are favoured. We declare and decree that Uganda belongs to God,” Kaziimba said. 

The Mufti Ramadhan Mubajje Sheikh Mubajje asked for Peace and stability- end to embezzlement of public funds, enhancement of social unity.

The president took his oath as hundreds of opposition supporters are being incarcerated in different police cells, unknown detentions and prisons. The homes of opposition leaders Bobi Wine and Kiiza Besigye are also under siege.

Minute by minute account of events

11:35 am President Museveni took his oath

11:39 am: The chief justice Alphonse Owiny dollo handed Mr. Museveni the instruments of power including the constitution, national flag, presidential standard flag, the national anthem, the court of arms and the public seal.

11: 41am: The chief of defense forces (CDF) Gen David Muhoozi handed the instrument of defense and the sword to the president. 

11:43am: The head of public service took the instruments for safe custody.

11:44am:  The new president proceeded to the saluting podium and a 21 gun salute was sounded to welcome him into the new office.

11:49am. The new president inspected his first parade using a pickup Hummer vehicle

12: 00pm Museveni once again took his seat.

12: 05pm: A fly past by helicopter warplanes for general transport and close air combat occurred.

12:09: Other small planes for medical evacuation during war flew past.

12:12 pm The Sukhoi in a diamond formation flew past. They are used in multiple combats.

Currently security forces are matching.
