“NUP’s Kayunga Chairman Sserubogo was murdered and body hanged on tree”

The death of Kayunga District Chairman, also a former member of Buganda Kingdom Lukiiko has stirred public opinion with many of the National Unity Platform (NUP) supporters to which he subscribes claiming their leader has been murdered.

Mr.Ffeffeka Sserubogo’s body was found hanging on a tree near his home in Kayunga District on Wednesday morning.

NUP leader Bobi Wine said the news of the death of Mr. Sserubogo was “incredibly sad and shocking and that news from the field say the deceased was murdered, and as a cover up hanged on the tree.

“He has been very vocal against corruption and land grabbing in Kayunga. We hope investigations will be done independently to establish the real cause of this shocking incident,” Bobi Wine said.

Nicodemous Musoke said that “I remember his story in NUP retreat at Jinja that the people he won in elections were following him with threats of death. That he could not sleep home.

Currently police led by Mukono District Police Commander Hellen Kyomuhendo has cordoned off the scene where Sserubogo’s body was found. She has told reporters that Sserubugo’s body was this morning found by his relatives hanging on a tree near his home.  

“We have cordoned off his home to establish the facts behind his death,” Kyomuhendo said.

Sserubogo, was sworn in as the new District Chairperson and he replaced Mr Tom Sserwanga only last month. He achieved his victory after a hot contest against NRM’s Andrew Muwongo, Thomas Muwanga, Boniface Musisi, Fred Ssemyalo, Patrick SSempijja and Dan Wabomba an Independent.

NUP supporters have taken to social media disputing assertions that Mr Sserubogo committed suicide.

Hakim Wasswa says “For sure he was murdered this hanging up is a diversion to cover up. Stop killing our people.”

Kajubi Freeman David; “The continuous murdering of innocent citizens will end dictatorship regime in deserved toughest place to be.  Rip our hometown great man but we assure you that Uganda must be Free as you have been fighting for it.”

Talemwa Raynolds; “I don’t think we can get real investigations into the massive butchering of Ugandans across the globe.”

Kasibante Ronald; “What I know this world is rotating. There will be a day for judgment to those murderers, they will cry, they will ask forgiveness but it will be no excuse for God and my country.”

Emong Alex Tukei; “The position and level the body is hanging doesn’t create any sense of suicide.”

Isaac Enagu; “This has been a new style of killing in Busoga. They do whatever and hang you. I have a friend whom they strangled and hanged him on the tree about three weeks ago.”

Matovu Fred; “No one can hang himself and he puts his hands down. If u hang yourself remember you die as you try to pull out the rope”

Eric Buule; “So now they’ve started killing our people by snapping their necks and after hang them on tree to look like suicide…….wow these people have upgraded their killing methods. Please God have mercy on Uganda.”

Katter Sserwanga; “This guy was disabled…. no way he could climb up….very bad that this is happening in our country…..may this jolly soul rest in peace.”

Kiriike Ronald Bwanika; “If Sserubogo hanged himself, his eyes would be wide open, his tongue out and the hands trying to remove the rope from his neck but check how smart he is a sign that he might have been brought to that place.”

Jude Tadeo; “Yesterday I watched that guy on NBS news about land wrangles with NFA and other claimants. Am socked the guy is dead today. So bad.”

Isaac Kateregga; “God have mercy on Ugandans but this government has totally failed to give national security to our people help us God.”
