MITYANA-UGANDA/NEWSDAY: The man behind the killing of a Rev. Fr. Josephat Kasambula over a land ownership brawl is an alleged famed criminal who only recently had been released from Prison after a 20-year sentence.
Vicent Katumba the suspect brutally killed Rev. Fr. Josephat Kasambula at Lukunyu Village in Gomba District near Mamba landing site on Lake Wamala on Wednesday evening. Fr Kasambula aged 68 has been a curate at Lwamata Parish in Kiboga District, where he was buried on Thursday.
At the farm where Katumba killed the clergyman, residents said that the killer had forcefully occupied the farm of the deceased and when the late father asked how the alleged killer has assumed ownership of the land, he stabbed him.
According to Joseph Sseyuya, the Kyegonza Sub County chairperson the deceased had owned the farm for over 20 years but had not been visiting for long time.
Katumba was arrested from an Island on Lake Wamala where he had committed another crime of stealing a boat that he intended to use to escape from authorities. When he was arrested he again stabbed another man but was overpowered and handcuffed.
